3 C flour
½ T baking powder
½ T baking soda
1 C butter, cut into small pieces
1 C sugar
½ tsp vanilla
¼ tsp nutmeg
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In large mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Stir to combine ingredients. Cut in butter. Stir until mixture appears crumbly. Set aside.
In separate bowl combine eggs, sugar, vanilla, and nutmeg. Beat mixture on medium speed for 3 minutes. Add egg mixture to flour mixture. Stir well. Chill for 2 hours.
Roll out dough to about ¼ inch thickness on floured surface. Cut into desired shapes. Place cutouts on baking sheet 1 inch apart.
Bake in 375-degree oven for 6-8 minutes. Let sit on baking sheet for 2 minutes. Remove to cooling rack.
Decorate cooled cookies if desired. Store in airtight container.
